What Students and Parents Say...

Thank you for being a part of this amazing journey of finding the right college and helping me stay on track finishing out my junior year. I am so excited for a new chapter of life and I’m so glad that you were a part of it.

Severna Park High School Student Class of 2024

We can't thank you enough for your knowledge, support, and patience throughout the college application process with our daughter. We're excited for our son to go through this process with you as well. We know it will be a very different experience, and we're confident that your guidance will be invaluable to him as well. We so appreciate you and your services! I honestly can't think of anything I'd ask you to improve. You've always been available, honest, supportive, informative, and helpful, providing professional insight and knowledge, and making an overwhelmingly complex process manageable. I can't imagine having gone through this experience without you! Thank you!

I could NEVER have gone through the college process without Beth, and the specialized attention and personalized feedback that she gave me with every single one of my essays (above 30!) validated and/or improved my writing. All of the work that we put in paid off and I’m so thankful for how she supported me in everything I did and pushed me to believe in myself. I’m going to miss you so much!!

Student attending the University of Virginia

Using Beth Casey and Potential College Advising is the best decision my family ever made. Her experience and knowledge of the college admission process along with her affable personality helped me get into my top choice school. I cannot thank her enough for all she did, and my two younger brothers will definitely be using her as well!

We used Beth for both of our sons and appreciated the inside knowledge and hands-on experience that was provided! We would definitely recommend her to all of our friends with kids entering high school.

I cannot thank you enough for all you did. Setting up my class schedules and showing me appropriate test prep were so helpful. You also showed me schools that I would have never thought of applying to. As a recruited athlete, I ended up not going through the regular admissions process, but you were able to help me choose wisely between my options and guide me easily through all the essays and teacher recommendation surveys which was greatly appreciated.

Beth has an exceptional natural ability to motivate a reluctant, nervous, or just disoriented teen to be present and accountable in the process. What a help!

Mother of student attending the University of Wisconsin

Beth understood my child and was able to help him identify a solid list of schools to apply to. She encouraged him to reach but also gave him a healthy dose of reality when he needed it. Beth is incredibly knowledgeable, organized, intuitive, gently persistent and extremely positive. We couldn’t have done it without her.

Mother of student attending Purdue Engineering

Beth was beyond helpful in terms of identifying and selecting programs that would be a good fit for our teen. She was thoughtful and really listened to our sometimes-conflicting information and made helpful suggestions. Ultimately our child selected a school that Beth introduced her to, one that she is very excited about and that seems to be a great fit! We’re so glad Beth was a partner to us throughout this process!

Parent of student attending Smith College

Thank you so much for everything you did for me over the last two years. Your guidance allowed me to stay on track and ahead of the game, giving me the security that I needed. Your support gave me the confidence I brought to interviews and in submitting ELEVEN applications. And your encouragement pushed me to reach my goals and to be unashamedly ME!

JM, Millersville, MD, Student at American University 3 year Politics Policy & Law program

We can’t think of a single thing we would suggest changing. The list of things that were helpful is really long… the touch-base visits early in HS, the assessments, your listening to our son (and his parents!), your own experience, the essay workshop, getting the applications done early, the fast and valuable feedback to all the blurbs for applications, the suggestions for college visits, the (many) reminders!, the SAT/ACT prep advice. You’ve been part of our family during our son's high school years. You have helped us discover the best in his college potential and have been a huge part of getting him ready! I cannot imagine how we would have done this all without your insight, encouragement, and patience.

MG, Ellicott City, MD, Parent of student attending University of Maryland College Park

You helped us navigate through the college application process with ease! You took the pressure off of us (parents) and enabled our son to be proactive and to take charge. And in the end, he not only got into the Naval Academy but he was also accepted to every college he applied to! Thank you!!!!

LD, Severna Park, MD, Parent of student attending the United States Naval Academy

Thank you, Beth for helping all three of my girls navigate the college application and search process!! They have all loved working with you!! And I can tell you we could not have done it without you!

Severna Park High School Parent

I cannot say enough good things about Beth and her invaluable knowledge of the college application process. She walks your student and - let's face it - parents too, through every aspect along the way. From getting to know which schools would be a good fit (she knows about ALL of them!) to setting deadlines and working on the essays. When everything shut down she pivoted to online meetings seamlessly. I recommend her to everyone I know! Thank you for being amazing at what you do!

Beth is an expert in her field and a great partner in navigating the college admission process. The essay boot camp, early start on applications and keeping us on track allowed for a less stressful fall of senior year. She was always available for questions and guidance. Beth made the entire process less stressful and her approach made it so it was not overwhelming and allowed us to have a great experience. Her knowledge and relationships with colleges provided much insight and benefit. We couldn't be happier with the results! An investment worth every penny!

Severna Park High School Parents

Beth is amazing. She helped find the perfect match school for our son. Now four years later, he graduated at the top of his class having had a great 4 years in every way. Beth’s patience with our stubborn daughter paid off. She continued to guide and nudge her as she needed. In the end, our daughter is headed to a perfect school for her. And Beth was fabulous at keeping this momma calm and talking her down when needed. Lol. Both kids are at Georgia Tech.

Parent of two students at Georgia Tech

I can't speak highly enough about the personalized services offered by Potential College Advising. Beth went above and beyond to help our two children navigate their way through the college application process. Getting an early start and having a detailed action plan made the whole process feel less overwhelming. We have all been thrilled with the results and our third child is already under contract!

Parents of students attending Michigan and UVA

Like so many things in this day and age, the college admission process is competitive and some aspects can be very nuanced. Having a specialist provide expert guidance to allow your child to obtain acceptances and then make the best choice for them is...priceless.

Beth did a wonderful job with our son. He hasn’t always been the most self-directed.  With Beth‘s assistance, our son was able to regularly meet deadlines, often early without our constant reminding.  She set realistic goals to achieve ahead of schedule, so the expectations were manageable.  He successfully applied to 13 schools of which he got into 12.  He’s happily going to a school that fits his academic and social needs.  Thank you Beth!

Beth is nothing short of amazing. She managed to make this entire process, which is an immense amount of work, incredibly fun. She paced things in such a smart way that the stress was almost entirely removed from the process. Instead, we were able to focus as a family on understanding our son better, figuring out what was best for him and imagining his very bright future. As an added bonus, our son experienced a tremendous amount of personal growth working with Beth. By keeping the workload well-paced and manageable our son surprised himself by what he was able to accomplish. I feel extremely grateful that we had Beth to help shepherd us through the college admissions process.

I cannot thank you enough for your help over the past few years, whether it was narrowing down where I wanted to apply to working on essays with me to filling out the complicated service academy forms, I could not have done it without you. Thank you for your constant encouragement and wisdom and thank you for being so approachable whenever I had a question. As painful as it was to write all those essays, I genuinely enjoyed working on them at Starbucks with you. Thank you for making the Naval Academy a possibility for me!

Thank you so much for all of your help through our son's college search and applications. We are so happy with the direction he is headed in. You made the process so seamless and stress-free. The hard work has gotten him to a point we could not have imagined three years ago. He is so excited about his future plans - from his change in a program of study to attending a college that was not otherwise on our radar. The scholarship savings and the opportunities afforded him in the Honors College will allow for graduate school and studying abroad. We are truly grateful for everything you did.

Beth, we can't say enough for your expertise and guidance. You helped our son for nearly two years and he secured 7 acceptances, finally choosing a school out west. You are a neighborhood legend with word of mouth referrals from other parents; not to mention guiding your own children to their college programs. We always appreciated your attentiveness, due diligence, and responsiveness. Your care made our college selection process much easier as parents, which proved invaluable, and for better sleep at night.

I began the college process absolutely clueless. With the help of Potential College Advising, I got into schools I never would have dreamed of a year earlier, and by the end, I really felt like I could control my educational future.

JM, Severna Park, MD, Student at Stevens Institute of Technology

Potential made such a difference in my college application process. I was so overwhelmed by all of the applications and essays I had to fill out. After one hour with Ms. Casey I felt a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. Working with someone who knew the process and could spend time working with me one-on-one made a huge difference in the quality of my applications. I got into my dream school!

JA, Annapolis MD, Student at University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill

Getting three kids at once into the best possible colleges for them is a daunting task. I'm so glad Beth Casey was with us at every step of this long, involved process. We truly could not have done it without her. With her guidance our kids were accepted into great schools and programs.

CR, Severna Park, MD, Parent of three students (triplets!) at Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland College Park and Loyola University - Maryland

Beth Casey proved to be very helpful to both of my children as they went through the stages of planning for college.... My younger child had very specific career and college goals. Beth used the expertise she has gained from certifications and attending seminars at top ranked colleges to help my daughter learn what those schools are looking for in an applicant. This guidance included suggestions for high school classes, which standardized tests to take and when, and names of tutors to help with standardized tests. Beth is also a good resource for which schools specialize in different areas of study, which have good financial aid programs, etc. She teaches the students about online resources that they can also use to familiarize themselves with colleges so they can make informed choices. I can't express how thankful you are as a parent when you have someone else encouraging your child to meet application deadlines, reading and helping to revise essays, and best of all encouraging the student to finish all of this before the start of senior year. What a relief! Throughout the process Beth encourages the students while keeping in mind possible stressors. My daughter achieved her goal of being accepted at a top university. Her hard work and determination made this happen, but we will never underestimate the value of Beth's help.

KS, Millersville, MD, Parent of student at University of Pennsylvania

Beth really helped us through a maze of requirements that many people do not have the time to learn and fully comprehend. What a relief it is to have someone so knowledgeable guide us through this very stressful and lengthy process. Her services are worth every single penny!!

SF, Severna Park, MD, Parent of students at UMBC and Susquehanna University

We started our work with Beth before Junior Year. Her guidance through the college preparation and application process was extremely valuable. I have been a Certified Financial Planner for 20 years and consider myself an expert on college planning, but Beth provides excellent detail on the courses, extra-curricular activities, testing, and other factors that will help your student gain acceptance to the optimal schools for their skills and interest. (And the fact that your student receives this guidance from someone other than their parents is a huge plus...I promise!)

JB, Severna Park, MD; Financial Planner and parent of student at UNC Chapel Hill

Our experience with Beth Casey and Potential College Advising has been nothing short of terrific. Our son had ambitions to attend an Ivy League school, which neither of us were familiar with, and didn't have a full appreciation of. Beth helped us understand that he could achieve his ambition, and the benefits of his attendance would be tremendous. With Beth's help, our son was successful at achieving his goal of attending Dartmouth College.

Beth also guided my daughter on her applications. She gained acceptance to the Robert H. Smith School of Business at University of Maryland College Park.

My children, my husband and I all greatly appreciate what Beth brings to the college selection process. She has taken what is a very confusing and stressful experience, and has brought order, understanding, knowledge, and a well-needed calming approach. We highly recommend Beth and Potential College Advising.

MH, Severna Park, MD, Parent of students at Dartmouth College and University of Maryland College Park

Thank you for everything you've done for me regarding college, and to be honest, the direction of my life in general. I had many points where I believed I couldn't get to the college I wanted, but your counsel and your help truly changed my perspective and ultimately, the outcome. I cannot thank you enough for all you've done for me. I owe you so much for where I am today.
